Chrissy Gardiner designs knitting patterns for her Gardiner Yarn Works pattern line as well as various publications such as Interweave Knits, Knitty, and Twist Collective, from her home in Portland, Oregon. She is the author of Toe-Up! Patterns and Worksheets to Whip Your Sock Knitting Into Shape and is furiously finishing up her second book, Indie Socks. While she designs all sorts of knitted items, she has a particular fondness for and obsession with socks.

Learn which stitch patterns work well with variegated yarns and which are more suited for semi-solids as well as how to choose someone else’s pattern to go with your handpainted yarn. You don’t need to be an actual or aspiring designer to learn lots from this class!

One of the trickiest parts of knitting toe-up socks is finding the perfect bind-off. Students will learn three different stretchy bind-offs in this class so their toe-up socks will never cut off their circulation again!
This class is a one hour wonder that repeats three times in each three hour block it is offered in.
Friday PM: 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30.
Sunday AM: 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00.

This class will introduce knitters to the Bohus style of colorwork, which utilizes knit and purl stitches to create a multi-dimensional color pattern not attainable by using knit stitches alone. Students will learn the basics of two-handed stranding as well as tips for incorporating their own textured colorwork designs into a basic sock framework.
|Class Skills:||Ability to knit in the round on two circulars/magic loop or dpns. Should be comfortable sock knitters in order for the sock design element of this class to be really useful for them.|
