Marketplace
Our marketplace is (and we really mean it) pretty darned big. In fact, the day that Tina and Stephanie scoped out the convention center, they had a car show in there. (We had an awful lot of fun saying things like “Wow, we can put a bit of the handpainted yarn where that truck is”, and watching the guy showing us around try really gracefully, not to let his head explode. We can’t say enough nice things about the convention people.)
The Marketplace has more than 150 Vendors, selling everything you could want—assuming you’re really interested in socks, which we think you are. There’s yarn, needles, bags, patterns, books, blockers, jewelry, art, shoes… special focus on unique hand-painters, we don’t think we’ve missed a thing. Our vendors come from across the continent, and we’re committed to making it as exciting for them as it will be for students and customers. Aside from the vendors, the marketplace has:
- a demonstration area where there will be great stuff going on all the time.
- a winding station with swifts and ballwinders, so you don’t have to wait to get started.
- shipping, in case you want to mail your new stash home.
- food and coffee so you don’t ever have to leave.

In addition, we’ve got something we think you’ll love. “The Lucy Booth” gets its name from Lucy’s booth in the Peanuts comic, where she offered Charlie Brown “psychiatric help, 5 cents”. It will cost a little more than 5 cents, but our booth will offer sock/knitting help to anyone who needs it. If you’re struggling with a technique or if you need help with sock diagnosis and treatment, the Lucy Booth is where you should go. You never know who you might find behind the counter when you get there.
We also have a Color Me Crazy booth where you get to meet your dyers. You can ask them questions,chat and get the stories behind the colorways or get your color fortune told. Who knows what color wizard and wonder will be waiting for you there.
The cost to get into the marketplace is $2.00 per day for those not registered for classes or events. Those attendees who are registered for classes get in free. Please make sure you have your name tag so we know who you are.
