Twinkle Toes: eTextiles for Socks

Do blinky lights delight you?  Wish you had the geek-fu to add electronics to your projects?  It’s easier than you think.  Syne Mitchell will start you gently on the path to creating stand-out eTextile garments.  Using the Aniomagic Sparkle and LED sequins, you will learn how to embellish your socks with wee winking glimmers of light that react in a pattern you choose.  If time permits, we will discuss other eTextile options such as LED circuits, the Aniomagic schemer, and the Arduino lilypad.

Class Materials:

This class has a materials fee of $25. Please bring this amount to class (exact change, and in cash please). 

The materials fee: (includes 1 Sparkle, 1 chooser, 1 battery, conductive thread, 5 LED sequins)
Students should bring a pair of knitted socks, with at least 50 yards of extra sock yarn, and the knitting needles they used to make the socks. Small tapestry needle. Scissors. Note-taking supplies.

Homework:

1) Once your class is confirmed, Email Syne at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) your favorite colour from the following choices: ruby, diamond, emerald, or sapphire.  2) Finish a pair of socks (any style) and bring them in to embellish.  Also bring extra sock yarn for the knit-in battery pouch.
