Story Socks - Create a story with your sock design.

Using different patterns and a beautiful sock yarn, create a one of a kind gift that tells a story to the recipient.  We’ll look at several examples of socks I’ve done this with so you might find inspiration for your project. We will start with a short writing exercise, delve through stitch dictionaries and then move onto swatching and knitting towards the story idea each student has come up with. I will have several small balls of yarn available in different colors for trying out stitch patterns, but students should start thinking about a topic when they sign up for this class and bring in an appropriate yarn.

Class Materials:

Bring needles appropriate to the yarn you are planning to use in class. Scrap yarns provided for stitch practice call for size 0-2 needles. Also, bring a calculator in case you need it for the patterns you choose for your design; pencil and paper and the knitting accessories you would normally use for knitting socks. A stitch dictionary would be very helpful.
