Socks Without Wool

Handknit socks are a pleasure to make and wear if wool is in your fiber vocabulary. But what if you or the future sock wearer is allergic or sensitive to wool, or simply chooses not to wear it? Then what? Give up on handknits? Heavens, no!Handknit socks are a pleasure you need not deny yourself. This class will teach you what you need to know about the yarns, fibers and knitting techniques that make the most of non-wool yarns, whether they were meant to be sock yarns or not. We’ll also investigate a variety of non-wool sock yarns, hands on, to see what they’re like and what they do best.Students will leave with a copy of Amy’s favorite sock recipe, which combines the best techniques she’s found for non-woolly socks, and gives you room to improvise a little, too.
