50 g worsted weight yarn (or this would be an excellent way to use up some leftovers - plan on about 15 g per sample toe). A set of needles that you use to get a gauge you like for that yarn.� (dpns, 2 circulars or magic loop are all fine, your preference). If you plan on working a toe onto a real sock, measuring tape or gauge square. A calculator & pencil. A darning needle. Scissors. | |

Those students who are eager may work up to four cuffs for their sample toes: cast on 36 stitches, join in the round and work 4-6 rounds k1, p1 rib (round count is not important, just work enough that the edge won’t curl). Put these stitches on a holder or leave on the needles if you have enough to spare. | |
