Embroidery is not just for hankies any more! Socks are a fun item to embellish with some delicate or playful stitchery, and bits of leftover sock yarn are perfect for embroidering with. Use your skills to spruce up a sad sock or camouflage repairs (or goofs). We will cover ten good stretchy stitches that work well on knits, and explore applique techniques using felt and jersey fabrics, or recycled sweaters.

Please bring a piece of knitted fabric for making a stitch sampler, about 10x10” or bigger (a piece of an old worn-out or thrifted sweater is perfect; I am not suggesting you knit a piece to embroider on, unless you want to!), a tapestry needle, and scraps of yarn (worsted or finer). | |
