Art for your Feet takes sock design beyond perfect fit and a pretty face. It draws a picture; it tells a story; it means something. The sock is a perfect miniature canvas for grand ideas; a haiku in yarn. The Art Sock begins and ends with concept - and concept is all around you. Open your mind to them, and the ideas will find you. After that… it takes focus, discipline, a little magic, and just a touch of gall to take those ideas and make them into wondrous three-dimensional art that perfectly fits the foot. So - what makes a great idea for a sock? What makes a great idea INTO a sock? That’s what we will discuss: how to capture your concept and wrestle it to the ground; how to handle it with humor and grace; how to translate it into structure, color, texture, technique, and accessories. In short, how to transmute inspiration and atmosphere into knitting - knitting that nestles gracefully into the framework of that funny little tube with a bend in the middle.
