ST-1 and the teachers have worked really hard to come up with a wonderful selection of classes. We’ve got some repeats of some wildly popular classes from last time (because if it ain’t broke, why would you fix it?) and some fantastic new ideas you’re going to love. We’ve got classes for rank beginners, classes for the super advanced, classes for knitters who want to turn pro and start designing - even a class or two for sock knitters that own businesses. In addition to that though, we’ve got the stuff we’ve always wanted. Classes that embrace the whole world of knitting socksnot just colourwork, beads, crochet and argyle, but sock techniques from all over the place. Bavarian socks, Estonian socks, kilt hose, twined socks, Austrian socks, Jacuard socks, Japanese, Bosnian, Turkish… We are bringing the world to the Sock Summit.
We want to take all these classes ourselves, and we think that’s got to be a good sign.
We have three-hour (half-day) classes that cost $75.
We have six-hour (full-day) classes for $150.
We have a return of our awesome one-hour wonders. These are mini classes that showcase a technique or concept are best suited to a shorter format. They run six times a day, and cost $25.
This year, we’ve also have lectures for $25. These are large-scale events, showcasing an idea or teacher. They’re one to two hours long, and scattered over the four days of the Summit.
Materials will be needed for many of the classes. In the majority of them, we’ve listed what you need, and in a few exceptions, we’ve noted that there is a materials fee. If that’s the case, you’ll bring that fee (in cash, exact change please) to the class, and the teacher will give you your stuff.
Some of the classes will have homework that you need to accomplish before you come. We’ll make sure you know what it is with plenty of time to spare, but please do check the class listing for updates in case there are changes.
Finally, don’t forget to check out all the great stuff happening in the Marketplace. While there aren’t classes, there’s absolutely demos (expanded to two areas for that this year) and chances to learn in there... and it’s all included with your class registration.
